The Zookeeper’s Wife

I liked it.  It is a nice little film that makes you think about the value of life, animal and human.  It isn’t the most brutal or cut-throat protrayal of the Holocaust but it does tell of the real-life story of one working wife and mother who became a hero to hundreds during World War II. In 1939 Poland, Antonina Żabińska (portrayed by  Jessica Chastain) and her husband, Dr. Jan Żabiński (Johan Heldenbergh), have the Warsaw Zoo flourishing under his stewardship and her care. When their country is invaded by the Germans, Jan and Antonina are stunned – and forced to report to the Reich’s newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck (Daniel Brühl of “Captain America: Civil War”). To fight back on their own terms, Antonina and Jan covertly begin working with the Resistance – and put into action plans to save lives out of what has become the Warsaw Ghetto, with Antonina putting herself and even her children at great risk.

I found the opening scenes of everyday life and Antonia’s relationship with the animals heart warming. This is a warm, loving zoo.  To see what happens to these animals is heartbreaking.  That is only the beginning, as the Jews in Warsaw are moved to the ghetto and they are next.

Antonina Żabińska and Dr. Jan Żabiński saved 300 people.  They are heros.  I enjoyed knowing about them.

The Equinox

There are two equinoxes every year – in March and September – when the Sun shines directly on the equator and the length of night and day are nearly equal.

March Equinox in Los Angeles, California, USA is on

As a person born on the Virgo/libra cusp, I am a perfectionist desparately seeking balance.  To day is the day the earth finds her balance.  Let us take a moment to breathe that in.

The Light and the dark in balance.  Let us reach for this equalibrium, feeling ourselves poised and peaceful.  Let us embrace the whole of life, with all of it’s resiliance, strength, as the constant day and night are always moving forward, be amazed at its continuous energy as it is a joy and inspiration.  There is always the hope of the first ray of sunlight after the darkest night.  And today we are in balance.

Beauty and the Beast

I bought a ticket to see Beauty and the Beast because Emma AND I loved the animated version, and when I got there the movie gave me

Emma Watson … Belle
Dan Stevens … Beast
Luke Evans … Gaston
Josh Gad … LeFou
Kevin Kline … Maurice
Hattie Morahan … Agathe / Enchantress
Ewan McGregor … Lumière
Ian McKellen … Cogsworth
Emma Thompson … Mrs. Potts

It is an enchanting piece. all the songs and a couple new ones. Beautiful costumes and just top notch visuals. All the characters are protrayed brilliantly – how could they not be when you consider the cast?

I can see all the little girls (and any boys who want to) wearing the yellow ballgown.

I know, I know, the original tale is of a Beauty who acts monsterously and a monster who is kind, making us look at who/what is “beauty” and who/what is “monster”. This tale is about love bridging the gaps and turning what we think looks monsterous on the outside into not mattering anymore because the person inside is everything we ever hoped for. (Like if Sanza could not be a snob and see the inner goodness of Tyrion Lannister who tried his best to treat her proper and ease her suffering.)

This is a feel good movie. I was especially happy for LeFou when in the last dance he is paired with another charming man, someone who would appreciate him much more than Gaston.

le sigh. I still prefer The Beast as The Beast, I hate the tranformation thingy. Belle makes a joke about the Prince growing a beard, I would want the whole deal, horns, claws, tail….because I am drawn that way.  Let’s have everyone else transform back to humans and The Beast just doesn’t die and stays the same.

Please show your support of Manhattan tour March 13 – 17.

I would love to visit Manhattan next week.  I need more hours of pre-booked appointments.  In order to check into the hotel and pay that bill, I need deposits with these appointments.

We will have so much fun.  The hotel I stay in is very nice and you can come up to the room without hassles.  It is located in the middle of Midtown.

Write, text, make your appointments NOW!

Kinky, sexy, exotic times await you!

Logan

Not a feel good vibe movie but very well done.  The actress playing Laura/X-23 (Dafne Keen) is excellent.  Patrick Stewart always amazes me because he is a energetic, vital, active man playing an extreme aging, tired, paralyzed man.  Patrick Stewart play s Professor Charles Xavier perfectly.  At one point Charles and Laura are watching “Shane” on TV.  In most ways, this movie flows like a dark cowboy flick.  You’ve got the bad guys and the good guys and twists and innocent do-gooders slain and the bad guy you aren’t ready for.  Hugh Jackman is always a good date.  I felt this was a great ending to the Wolverine arc, the man who could not die – “Oh, this is what it feels like.” understated and moving.

Washington DC thank you for showing me an awesome time! Now in Philadelphia.

It is always rewarding to see gentlemen I know.  The time is spent having fun without worry, I know I am safe.   There is not any replacement for knowing someone better, having all the little nuances reveal themselves, than spending time again and again exploring and playing.  There is no fast track.  I had amzing times last week.  Thank you all.

My phone is ringing off the hook and my schedule book is filling up with appointments now that I am in Philadelphia.  Do make your appointment this tour please, as I will not be returning to Philadelphia until October.

John Wick 2

The fight scenes are slick, hours of load gun and shoot porn with some knife action. I was fascinated with the John Wick suit, which you can buy https://www.fjackets.com/…/Keanu-Reeves-John-Wick-3piece-Su…

. Too bad it doesn’t come with the bullet proof lining, which i thought was quite the concept. The dog is safe and kept by a responsible person during the action. I am only concerned that we end with the dog running beside John at the finale. If they kill the dog in John Wick 3 I will campaign for rubbing it down into oblivion on Tomatometer. One dog being killed as the premise for John Wick 1 is all you get.

The Great Wall

I saw it at an Imax 3D theater. It was entertaining, if you can suspend reality and believe the premise of the story. Visually so grand and beautiful, great cinema photography. The music is bold and wonderful. Zhang Yimou is the director, this is the man who directed the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. You can tell when you watch this film. Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones actor) as Tovar is excellent, all of the Nameless Order actors are excellent. The dragon monsters are fantastic. The weakest link in this film is Matt Damon. He just never rings true and his dialogue delivery is awful. I would insert Richard Gere around the “Lancelot” time if I could wave a magic wand. You definately want to see this BIG, in 3D or just don’t bother because what is moving about the film is the majestic photography poetry, like those old silent films of Griffith or Fred Niblo’s Ben Hur.

Life is excellent!

I am loving being in Los Angeles.  There has been lots of rain this winter.  The Los Angeles air is smelling great and our streets are finally oil free and washed off.  Mother Nature has watered my garden nicely.  Hiking has been a little tricky with Kelly because the dirt trails get too muddy and dangerous.  We still move around at least an hour each day.  I went in for a full Health Check up.  I am in excellent health except I need more Vitamin D because I completely cover up when I am outside.  LOL.
